Chanced upon this homely little bakery after finishing a hearty brunch across the road. The cakes and pastries caught my eye, so I decided to grab a jam doughnut and a beef burgundy pie to go.
The jam doughnut, save for the lacklustre serving of jam, was a beautiful treat indeed. Light and soft, with a slightly crisped exterior.
The beef burgundy pie was brimming with fillings, and very flavourful, with a rich and robust sauce. Flaky buttery pastry rounded up this yummy pie.
Lovely and friendly service from the lady behind the counter, and with such a delectable selection of pastries, it just means that I have to return to try them all, don't I?

After leaving Miss Frank for brunch (which is almost opposite), I picked up a curried beef pie for a friend (which I ended up sharing) from this cute little bakery/‘pantry’. They had a wonderful selection of cakes, pastry’s and even soup. The pie itself was delicious. It had a nice flaky crust and good pastry to meat ratio.
As soon as we entered we were greeted with a friendly welcome and a large amount of scrumptious looking food. Trying to decide was the hardest part, as everything was homemade and looked very fresh. Large assortment of homemade slices, cakes, tarts and quiches. After much deliberation a vegetable quiche ($18), and a pear tart ($22) were chosen. (I sneakily brought one of my favourite temptations; a custard tart) Finally dragging ourselves out of the store with promises to return, we travelled home to share our goodies. The quiche was warmed in the oven for 10 minutes and was easily shared between six friends. The pear tart was lovely with thick cream and lasted us two days of desert. My sneaky custard tart didn't disappoint but didn't get into my top five. Overall it was a tasty lunch, and I would recommend dropping by on a rainy day to take away a pick-me-up
